compact flexible and versatile
We bought this to replace a good but ink-hungry HP PSC. So far I have nothing but praise for it. It is absurdly compact, prints quickly from “cold” and has good clear intuitive controls and panels that make basic copying/scanning/faxing functions a doddle. I went for the slightly more expensive option allowing totally wireless connection – there seems to be a little ambiguity on Amazon with prices – the same model is listed twice but once quite a bit cheaper – so do dig around. The wireless option means that we can put in on a wheeled 2 drawer filing cabinet and literally move it around within our relatively small office space. Of course you can also connect direct to the computer via a USB or via the network hub using ethernet cables. No the paper tray is not the biggest and no the toner cartridges are speced for “only” 1500 sheets but that’s why you are looking at a compact colour laser printer scanner. Sure initial set-up is a little tricky. Ignore the installation leaflet – utterly worthless if not confusing. Just install using ETHERNET cable and opting for network installation. That way computer allocates port automatically. You can check this by getting the printer to print out a page f setting which will include the printer port along the lines of 168.192.0.3. Make a note of that, then if still not printing manually configure printer port within control panel/printers “add new port” (if necessary). Likewise for scanner – if it doesn’t want to scan you can select “change port” and make sure it has the same ip address allocated as for the printer. Once everything is talking to everything else, disconnect the ethernet and within a few seconds the blue wireless enabled light comes on...... Read more
